National Air and Space Museum:
Common Spaces
The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum recently completed a multi-year renovation. Unified Field worked on two multimedia projects for the Museum. Working with PGAV Destinations, Unified Field created large-scale video content and interactive media for the Museum’s common spaces. I developed a template for the videos that play on the 124-foot-wide media band in the main Milestones of Flight Hall and created welcome messages for that space. I worked with curators to create video pieces on the T-38 Talon, aviation pioneer Jacqueline Cochran, and the Museum’s mission. These piece play on large screens that hang behind Cochran’s own T-38, displayed at the Museum’s West End. I developed the welcome media that plays in the entry vestibule and the thresholds to several galleries, and the 45-foot-wide acoustic panel media that features photos and video that help put the Museum’s artifacts in context.
